Ennuri Jo is a cinema and media studies scholar with interests in film and media theories, ecocinema and media, feminist and decolonial epistemology and phenomenology, and early and avant-garde cinema. As a postdoctoral fellow at CARGC, she is currently working on the manuscript of her first book, titled Aqueous Image: Cinema and the Rhetoric of Water. In it, she explores and argues for a rhetoric and epistemology of water in philosophical, literary, and filmic texts of the 20th century, and its significance as a motif for the conception of the human, the film form, and the ecological discourse. In addition, she is working on a digital mapping project that supplements her manuscript: the interactive map will serve as a geospatial filmography of media texts that feature bodies of water. Her work is published and/or forthcoming in Spectator and Journal of Environmental Humanities, and presented at Society for Cinema and Media Studies and Film-Philosophy.
