In New Podcast Series, Annenberg Scholars Examine Election Politics
The first season of “Annenberg Conversations” will explore the cutting-edge research on media and communication that shape our world.
The Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania is excited to launch a new podcast series, "Annenberg Conversations." Hosted by Walter H. Annenberg Dean Sarah Banet-Weiser, this occasional podcast will delve into the most pressing issues in the field of Communication.
From investigating polarization in politics to dissecting the care labor industry, each episode brings together leading scholars from the Annenberg community for dialogue and in-depth discussion.
In the inaugural episode, "Unpacking Election Politics," Dean Banet-Weiser spoke with Associate Professors Sarah J. Jackson and Yphtach Lelkes to explore how race and gender, affective polarization, and the Uncommitted Movement shaped the 2024 presidential campaigns in the United States.
Political scientists talk a lot about how public opinion is thermostatic, meaning when policy and the zeitgeist move far to the left or the right, there will always be some pushback...I think what you see among young men right now is a thermostatic backlash, where they look around and feel that the policies have moved too far to the left, and their response is not necessarily, ‘Let's just go to the center,’ it's leapfrogging to the extreme right - Yphtach Lelkes
"Annenberg Conversations" aims to give listeners a deeper understanding of the forces influencing how we connect and communicate.
Listeners can find the podcast on the Annenberg School's website and major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
