Kraidy Edits Book Based on Scholars Program Symposium


Marwan M. Kraidy, Ph.D., Professor of Communication, has published “Communication and Power in the Global Era: Orders and Borders” (Routledge 2012). The book is a collection of essays, based on a 2010 Annenberg Scholars Program in Culture and Communication symposium, titled “Orders and Borders: Communication and Power in the Global Era.”  

The book contains chapters by many scholars affiliated with Annenberg, including: Guobin Yang, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Communication, who wrote the chapter “Power and transgression in the global media age: The Strange case of Twitter in China.” Paddy Scannell, Ph.D., former visiting scholar, who wrote the chapter “The centrality of television of the center in today’s globalized world.” And students: Le Han – “Nation-states and transnational attachments.” Andrew W. Crocco – “Branding between national boundaries and capital flows.” Piotr M. Szpunar – “Media, modernity, and postmodernity.” Sara Mourad – “Resistance: From old to new media.”
