Seth Grossman (C’01), chief of staff to the President of the University of California, spoke to graduating Communication majors and their loved ones on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the Zellerbach Theater of the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Grossman drew on his experience clerking for Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer and serving as a lawyer for the Department of Homeland Security to speak about being entrepreneurial in the pursuit of career success.

Every four years during presidential election cycles, students in COMM 428: Conventions, Debates, and Campaigns attend both Democratic and Republican National Conventions to augment their classroom experience. The course, taught by David Eisenhower and Marjorie Margolies, gives students a chance to meet major players in politics and journalism, and to see political communication up close in its most dynamic form.

Undergraduates in Professor Jessa Lingel's Urban Ethnography class immersed themselves in several non-profit groups in Philadelphia, including Rebel Ventures, a granola bar business run by middle and high school students at the Dorrance H. Hamilton Center for Culinary Enterprises at 46th and Market streets. This video shows the Penn students' experience, which also included making their own video documentaries.
